Food Safety and Sanitation

Is your business a standalone bar, exclusively serving up drinks without offering any food options?

Department of Health has now adopted the 2013 FDA Food Code. What this means for you, is you now must provide a Food Safety training program for your employees that covers Basic Public Health Food Protection Practices.

Why? If you don’t serve food?

Well ice is considered a food, and serving drinks is considered food service, and bar employees must be aware of their part in basic public health protection. Using bare-hands to slice fresh fruit for garnishing drinks is no longer allowed, utensils or gloves must be used!

What do you need to do to be in compliance?

  • Your employees must receive annual training by March 31st of each year and new employees within 30 days of hire.
  • You must have written documentation available for your inspector and post the required signage.

Professional Hospitality Training, can conduct this training and provide the required documentation and signage, during your next Responsible Vendor Tri-Annual update meeting.
